The PlayStation Portable continues to be the best sold piece of gaming hardware on the Japanese market even as the Nintendo DS has seen the release of Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie, which pushed up sales by a certain amount. Overall, the entire Nintendo handheld line up proved stronger than the PSP by about 17,000 units.

The PlayStation Portable managed to sell 47,875 units in one week, which is some 5,000 units less than the amount moved during the previous interval, while the Nintendo Wii took second place in the individual model chart, with sales also slowing but by a smaller amount, from 45,167 to 42,309.

The DSi LL model, which has a bigger screen than the other devices made by Nintendo and has proven to be a big hit in Japan, succeeded in shipping 34,863 devices, which is almost 10,000 more than during the previous seven-day period, while the PlayStation 3 was pushed back to fourth place with sales of 34,431.

The regular DSi and the DS Lite also managed to see increases in their sales numbers and the Xbox 360 has seen an increase in its fortunes, reaching 4,089 devices sold in one week, which is better than the PSP Go that sits at 1,645.

When it comes to videogames, the big winner of the week is Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie from Square Enix for the Nintendo DS, which sold no less than 906,000 units in its first week. The title was initially released for the Famicon in 1995 and it seems that the updated version is just as attractive now to players as it was back in the day.

Second place went to Resonance of Fate, created by SEGA for the PlayStation 3, which managed to sell 118,000 units in its first week, while third place remained in the capable hands of New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii, that sold another 84,000 copies. Ar tonelico III: Sekai Shuuen no Hikigane wa Shoujo no Uta ga Hajiku from Namco Bandai sits at number four, while Tomodachi Collection is at number five.
