Web designers and developers would find it easier to come up with websites and web content courtesy of the latest flavor of Opera Mobile Emulator, released today.

The web is moving towards the mobile space, and developers do need to test their websites and the web content they come up with to see how they would fit on the small screens of handsets.

Since testing the product on various mobile phones, smartphones or tablets could be a tough process, requiring a lot of time and money (one might need to buy various devices for that), the solution Opera offers is much simper and easier to use.

The new mobile emulator from Opera was designed to eliminate the need of installing various SDKs, or that of buying devices to see how the outcome looks like on them.

Opera Mobile Emulator can be easily installed on desktop PCs running under Windows or Linux, as well as on Mac devices, and provides developers with different environment settings, including screen sizes and densities, input modes and the like.

“The Opera Mobile Emulator is a great tool for anyone who is involved with mobile development,” said Andreas Bovens, Group Leader for Developer Relations & Tools at Opera Software.

“We wanted to make mobile testing super easy (yes, even our PR guys manage to use it!). In the emulator, you’ll find a ton of customization options for a wide range of mobile platforms. And, of course, you can do close-up code inspection and live editing via Opera Dragonfly’s remote debugging functionality.”

The new release also comes as a developer companion for the company's Opera Mobile 11 browser, which was made available a while ago for handsets running under Google's Android OS, as well as for Symbian phones.

“As the Opera Mobile browser is already running on all these platforms, we went the extra mile and ported the product to also run on Windows, Mac and Linux,” the company notes.
