At the Nokia World conference in London, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced the availability of a new set of services and applications for its users, all put together in Nokia Maps Suite, now available for download in a beta flavor.

The new application brings together a series of other mobile apps that Nokia developed for its Symbian devices, including the Nokia Live View, Nokia Places, Nokia Pulse, and Nokia Public Transport.

With Nokia Maps Suite, the handset vendor plans on offering the future of location-based services on today's devices.

While one of the applications inside the suite will offer info on the place where to go, another will provide details on how to get there by bus, tram or train.

Not to mention that there is also the Nokia Live View, an augmented-reality browser, aimed at offering a new vision on the world, along with Pulse, so that users can easily check in with people that matter the most for them.

“It's nice to feel like a local no matter where you are. Maybe you’re in London for Nokia World and have taken some time to see the sites, Places helps you find out where you are,” a post on Nokia Beta Labs reads.

“Then you feel like having a coffee and use Live View to get information and reviews about the cafes closest to you.

“Enjoying your double cappuccino, you check in with Pulse and see that friends are in London for Nokia World too. Finally, you use Public Transport to find the quickest way to meet up with them.”

The new suite should prove a great companion for Symbian users, that's for sure. However, the company recommends updating at least to Symbian Anna so as to ensure that the app will enjoy full compatibility and support.

The software is compatible with Symbian Belle phones, including 600, 603, 700, 701, as well as with N8-00, E7-00, C7-00, C6-01, Astound, Oro, X7-00, E6-00, which run under previous OS flavors.
