With two days to go before the iPad 2 becomes physically available, Apple has released a new version of iTunes bearing an identical set of release notes as that of iTunes 10.2.

Mostly likely packing a small piece of altered code in order to address one or two minor bugs, iTunes 10.2.1 is an incremental update to the iTunes 10.2 release on March 2nd.

As noted above, the changelog is identical in that it allows you to “Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.3”.

iTunes 10.2.1 also delivers the improved Home Sharing, which allows you to “Browse and play from your iTunes libraries with Home Sharing on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.3,” according to the Cupertino-based Mac maker.

Since iTunes 10.2 also fixed a bunch of security issues, the new release contains the same patches for no less than 50 WebKit vulnerabilities.

Based on this disclosure, Apple is believed to be planning a new Safari release as well.

The web browser, which utilizes the same page rendering engine, is to be put to the test at this year’s Pwn2Own contest in Vancouver, Canada, where the best-of-breed hackers will attempt to compromise Mozilla’s Firefox, Google’s Chrome, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, and Apple’s own Safari.

iTunes 10.2.1. supports Mac computers with an Intel, PowerPC G5 or G4 processor. 1.0GHz PowerPC G4 or faster processor and 512 RAM is required to play Standard Definition video, according to Apple.

A 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 1GB RAM is required to play HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras.

On the Windows side, iTunes 10.2.1 supports 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, and Windows 7, but does not support the 64-bit edition of Windows XP.
