14 DAY TRIAL // Opera has just announced the availability of silent update 1 for Opera Mobile 11.1, which fixes a few critical issues found within the application.
It appears that Opera Mobile 11.1 was plagued by a bug that made the software freeze at startup on certain Android devices.
According to the developer, shortly after the official release of the Opera Mobile 11.1 for Android application, numerous users reported that the mobile browser was freezing at startup.
Fortunately, Opera managed to trace the issue, which seems to be specific to devices with non-standards fonts.
Based on the feedback received, Opera's engineers recreated the issue and discovered that the most affected devices were the HTC HD2 and LG P990 Optimus 2x.
In addition, the developers also identified and fixed another freeze on start-up bug that was affecting devices with hardware keyboards such as the Motorola Milestone and the HTC Desire Z.
Opera Mobile 11.1 silent update 1 change log is detailed below:
- Fixed force close issues related to non-standard fonts in the system; - Fixed force close issues when using hardware keyboards; - Fixed problems with text vanishing from text fields after editing. The latest version of Opera Mobile 11.1 was released in June and added lots of new features, as well as a fresh interface that made the application look better on Android devices.
The latest major update for the mobile browser added new features such as: support for Google AutoComplete and Google voice search, domain auto-suggest (.ru or .id), user agent setting, exit button option and experimental support for Flash in Honeycomb.
The text selection and CSS, HTML5 standards support have been improved, as well.
Opera Mobile 11.1 is available as free download from Android Market and is compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 or newer.
Users that have Opera Mobile 11.1 already installed should know that the newer version including the silent update 1 will replace the original launch version.
