The Developer channel for Google Chrome users is offering up a new build that contains several fixes to enhance the stability of the application, as well as the important Flash update incorporated in Stable builds earlier this week.

Just yesterday, Softpedia reported that Google engineers burned the midnight oil to incorporate a new Flash plugin in Chrome 12.0 Stable.

Adobe recently issued Flash Player 10.3.181.26 with several important fixes and enhancements, making it a must have for Chrome users as well.

In addition to improving the security of the software, Adobe updated Flash to include Media Measurement, Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Integration with browser privacy controls for managing local storage, a native Control Panel, and Auto-Update notification for Mac OS X.

Chrome 12.0.742.100 Stable now includes all these enhancements, and so does Chrome 13.0.782.24 for Mac, Windows, Linux, and Chrome Frame, according to Anthony Laforge, Program Manager at Google.

“The Dev channel has been updated to 13.0.782.24 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame,” he blogs. “This release contains a number of stability fixes and the Flash update.”

As usual, Laforge directs testers to the SVN log of all revisions for more details on this release, such as minor bug fixes and tweaks.

Chrome users commenting on the release already seem very satisfied, as opposed to the former Dev version which users said it was highly prone to crashes and freezes.

Strangely, the Beta channel is stuck at version 12.0 still. It was believed that Chrome 13.0 was polished enough to be promoted to Beta but, unfortunately, that’s not the case yet.

We can nonetheless expect development to move in that direction relatively soon. In other words, we trust Chrome 14.0 (Dev) is not far away.

Mac users looking to run Chrome (any version) must pack an Intel processor, at least 100 MB of free disk space, and a minimum 128 MB of RAM.
