CineXPlayer, a dedicated iPad application for watching Xvid movies on your iPad complete with subtitle .srt support & TV/VGA Output, has been updated to add a number of enhancements relating to xVID compatibility, and HD movie playback.

NXP Software B.V. believes that many people love to watch their movies anywhere, anytime, as well as take them with on the go.

Those who realized that some of the most popular movie file formats (such as Xvid) won’t sync or play on their iPad should not despair, as CineXPlayer can play your Xvid movies on their Apple device without having to convert the video file.

“CineXPlayer plays Xvid movies and we endeavor to support most popular avi formats,” NXP Software says.

Formats like mkv, and AC3 are currently not supported, while CineXPlayer may have trouble playing one or two “supported” formats, the company admits.

As noted above, CineXPlayer 1.6 comes with a few improvements, such as better compatibility with xVID movies, smoother playback for HD content, less battery drainage, a loop movie function and user settable subtitles.

The full changelog is available below:

What's New in Version 1.6

- Improved xVID compatibility - Even Smother Video Playback for HD 720p Content - Improved performance for Longer Movie Playback (battery life) - User Settable Subtitle Size for LCD screen - User Settable Subtitle Size for TV screen - Loop Movie Function (found in new settings screen) - Time now displays on Playback screen (when controls are visible) - Time @ which the movie ends is now displayed on the Playback Screen (when controls are visible).

CineXPlayer is compatible with the iPad only and requires iOS 3.2 or later.

CineXPlayer remains the only app that provides iPad users with the ability to watch Xvid files directly on their device without converting them, after Apple removed Applidium’s VLC Media Player native iOS app.

It was actually submitted and approved around the same time VLC Player had become available on the App Store.

However, unlike VLC, CineXPlayer does not break any of Apple’s App Store guidelines.

"CineXPlayer shows the way to enable Xvid content on iPad without conversion. It has been recognized by vast amount of happy users as the best way to enjoy Xvid on-the-go,” says Peter Van de Berg, marketing director of NXP Software.

“We are committed to continue bringing the best media experience to the most popular mobile devices," he added.
