Quickly on the footsteps of its fellow competitor, NVIDIA, Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices has also announced the release of its updated Catalyst Software Suite 9.11, specifically designed to enable support for the latest version of Adobe's Flash Player, namely 10.1. The release should enable users of the Radeon graphics cards and other ATI products to experience the performance of features that have been implemented in the aforementioned application. In addition, the new release delivers a number of other features and provides customers with a couple of fixes to known issues.

The new Catalyst Software Suite 9.11 includes the Radeon display driver 8.671, the HydraVision for Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, the WDM Driver install bundle, the southbridge/IXP Driver and the Catalyst Control Center 8.671. The drivers support AMD's Radeon HD 5000, 4000, 3000 and 2000-series of GPUs, as well as the company's chipset products and FireStream product family.

Among the new features that have been integrated in the latest release, the chip maker has highlighted the GPU acceleration of H.264 video content, using the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta and the high-quality downscaling for video transcoding MSE. According to the chip maker, the new drivers should enable users of the Radeon HD 5800, HD 5700, and HD 4000-series of GPUs to take advantage of the hardware acceleration features in the new Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta, scheduled for release in the first half of next year.

The new release should also enable support for the company's much anticipated Radeon HD 5970 graphics card, which will reportedly launch today. The drivers are available for download, through the company's website or following the links below.
