Dovado, a company well known in Scandinavia where it supplies cellular-enabled residential routers to mobile operators, has recently announced the introduction of what the company markets as the smallest 4G/LTE router in the world, the Dovado Tiny.

The whole device measures only 20x58x87mm in size, and it supports over 140 different USB modems offered worldwide with transfer speeds as high as 65Mbps.

In addition to the required USB port, the Dovado router also sports a 100Mbps Ethernet LAN port as well as a WAN port for providing users with an alternative Internet connection when a mobile network isn't available.

To make the installation as easy as possible, Dovado has included a so-called “Mobile Internet Auto-configuration Solution” function that basically reads the reads the SIM card and configures the connection without requiring any user input.

This is only one of the advanced features that the Tiny software supports as the router also allows its owners to check the status and change the device settings by SMS, to receive notifications when usage limits are close to being exceeded, or to be warned about periods of mobile broadband downtime.

“The Dovado Tiny allows mobile operators to offer a superior broadband experience at a lower cost than the bulk of fixed alternatives and with the smallest product footprint available anywhere. LTE USB dongles offer speed and mobility, which together with Dovado Tiny, can meet the needs of a whole family” said Thomas Axaeus, CEO of Dovado.

“The Tiny changes everything by bringing the power and flexibility of a home router to the whole family – and in a literally tiny package.

“The era of consumers being tied to a fixed line provider for their broadband needs is over,” concluded the company's rep.

The Dovado Tiny Wireless-N 4G/LTE router is already available in Swedish retail stores where it costs about 800 SEK including VAT, according to Sweclockers. Excluding taxes, this translates into approximately $102 US.
