There's a new trailer out for the Xbox 360 title Double D Dodgeball and it seems to imply that the game will be out on the Xbox Live Arcade service offered by Microsoft on July 30. There's no official release date from the developers but we know that the game will cost 800 Microsoft points, the equivalent of 9.99 dollars.

Ken Koyama, who is the product manger for the game, stated that "With Double D Dodgeball, we've been able to capture the spirit of classic playground dodgeball that we all grew up with." Apparently the game is only aimed at American audiences, those who never enjoyed European games like football while growing up.

The game is said to provide the perfect simulation of the ancient sport of hitting running people with a ball and will offer four different ball types and a lot of surfaces on which you can play, surfaces that influence the speed of the ball and the way the game is played. There are four main modes: Exhibition, Player Match, Ranked Match and Tournament Mode.

The multiplayer element is said to be one of the strong points as eight player support is added in an effort to attract all those who enjoyed the game of dodgeball as kids. The developers say that "Instead of meeting up on the hot playground you can go on Xbox LIVE Arcade and blast your friend with ball from the comfort of your couch".

This sounds like it's encouraging both sedentary behavior and violence in videogames. To solve the first problem a session of Wii Fit is recommended to all those attracted to playing Double D Dodgeball. We, here at Softpedia, would also like to recommend you to be as aggressive as you like in a videogame to make sure that you do not commit violent acts in real life. So get Double D Dodgeball and enjoy some ball on torso violence.
