Dirt 3, the upcoming racing game from Codemasters, has just seen its special multiplayer modes detailed, including three unlikely scenarios which will emphasize both competition between drivers and a fun experience.

Dirt 3 is getting ready to be released next month, so Codemasters, its developer, has begun showcasing a few more details about the racing title that will borrow elements from competitions like the World Rally Championship and other off road events, but also the flamboyant Gymkhana one, in which drivers need to drive through elaborate levels in the most stylish way possible.

Like we revealed a few months ago, Dirt 3 will also have some special multiplayer modes, including a sort of zombie one, where cars are being infected.

This scenario and two other special ones will be included in Dirt 3's specific Party Mode, which will allow players to have a bit more fun than in regular online races.

First up, we have the Outbreak one, which is the zombie mode we highlighted above, in which one car starts off as being infected, and glows green, who must then infect other cars by crashing into them until just one car remains. While that car will win the round, it must still try to escape the others until it is caught.

Next up, Dirt 3's Party Mode will offer the Invasion scenario, where you and your friends will try to defend the earth from robots, which, sadly, are just cardboard cutouts that must be driven into while avoiding cutouts of skyscrapers that can damage your car.

Last but not least, there's the Transporter scenario, which is basically a Capture The Flag one, except flags will be spawned all over the map and players need to race there in order to capture them.

Besides this Party mode, Dirt 3 will no doubt offer the ability to engage in regular multiplayer races, but they do sound more fun that just plain old racing against others.

Dirt 3 will be launched on May 24 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by Codemasters.
