After the very successful Diablo III open beta stage last weekend, Blizzard is now continuing its series of video descriptions for the game’s different classes, now putting the Witch Doctor into the spotlight, through a new trailer and some more details.

Diablo III allows players to choose from five different character classes, which they can take in new adventures across the variety of dungeons and locations created by Blizzard.

We’ve already seen new videos appear with the Demon Hunter, the Barbarian and the Monk, but now the studio has posted a new trailer, this time focusing on the Witch Doctor.

“The witch doctors: sage conjurers, enchanters, and mystical warriors who are driven by a charge to maintain spiritual balance and harmony in the violent world of Sanctuary. They command ancient magics rooted in the primal powers of life and death, and are adept at summoning fearsome, shadowy creatures. A witch doctor is armed with simple talismans, fetishes, rough carvings... and endless ravening throngs of vengeful spirits set to bring destruction at their master's command,” Blizzard said.

Definitely one of the most colorful characters in Diablo III, the Witch Doctor relies on all sorts of attacks to eliminate enemies, as well as on his trusty pet, which can be upgraded throughout the story.

“The ability to infect, slow and terrify their enemies gives witch doctors unprecedented control over a battlefield. They can manipulate opposing attacks and movements with debuffs and crowd control spells, rendering enemies easy prey for hungry pets. Witch doctors can also lay down fields of fire and venom that slowly leech life from advancing foes. Although some witch doctors avoid melee combat in favor of augmenting their pets and crippling their enemies from afar, they are also more than capable of slaying weakened foes with their own hands,” the studio added.

One more class has remained without a video, in the form of the Wizard, so expect it to be the focus of next week’s character class update.

Diablo III is out on May 15 for the PC and Mac platforms. Until then, check out the Witch Doctor video below.
