Blizzard is continuing to tease the possibility of Diablo III appearing on consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, not just on the PC.

Ever since Diablo III was formally announced, console owners have been hoping that Blizzard would also bring the highly anticipated role-playing game to their platforms, and not just on the PC.

The company teased the possibility of such a project on multiple occasions, and we even saw certain job listings calling for experienced console developers willing to port some of its games to platforms like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Now, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has also started talking about the possible Diablo III console version, admitting that the company is still just in the investigation phase.

"We are looking for a couple of console developers, yes. At this stage though, it's basically an investigation to see if it makes sense for Diablo to be a console game as well as a PC game," he said. "We haven't made any decisions yet, but a lot us feel that if ever there was a Blizzard franchise that could play well as a console game, then that's probably it."

Such an adaptation was considered by Blizzard for quite some time now, but, as of yet, it still isn't ready to commit wholeheartedly to funding such a project.

"I'd be lying if I said we never talk about it, but it's not something we're pursuing right now," he said. "I do agree that of all our titles, Diablo would be the easiest to bring over - mainly because of the controls."

According to previous statements from Blizzard, if Diablo III is going to made for consoles, don't expect it to arrive at the same time as on the PC, as the company doesn't want to betray its loyal following on that platform.

Diablo III still hasn't received a concrete release date, however, as it all depends on the feedback Blizzard gets from the beta stage set to take place later this year.

If things go smoothly, then we might see Diablo III released at the end of 2011. If the developer needs to address certain issues, then fans are going to have to wait until next year for the game.
