Diablo 3 has been released for over a week now and players, after encountering several errors due to the game’s mandatory online connection, are finally able to experience the dungeon crawling role-playing game as intended.

We’ve already discussed about the title throughout this Gamer Diary series and now it’s time to talk about the different classes available in Blizzard’s new title.

First up is the Barbarian, who’s fondly remembered from back in the old Diablo II days. This is perfect for those who just want to be a hulking armored beast on the battlefield and stomp everything in their way.

While his abilities may seem limited at first, the Barbarian can be customized through a variety of builds to become both a tank who can endure punishment instead of his allies, but also a DPS (damage per second) machine, provided you have adequate gear and plenty of abilities that augment your output.

Along the lines of the Barbarian is the Monk, who is much better suited to the DPS role, thanks to an array of attacks that rely on punching or kicking opponents with several abilities stacked on top of his powers. Don’t forget, however, that these attacks are dependent on your weapon(s), so don’t be afraid to equip the most devastating gear in order to make sure that your fists and feet are as deadly as possible.

The Demon Hunter is perfect for those that like fighting from afar and easily move through the battlefield. However, while dual wielding crossbows is quite impressive, it’s much better to either equip a heavy, 2-handed crossbow or a regular bow plus a quiver, as your damage output increases significantly, even if your attack speed suffers.

Those in favor of magic attacks can always try the Wizard, but be careful, as it takes some time getting used to before you can truly find the best combination of powers. Items with extra Intelligence are important, and so are the ones that increase your mana regeneration, because it’s crucial you have enough “juice” for your attacks.

Last but not least is the Witch Doctor, probably one of the most peculiar classes in Diablo 3. While he may look a bit frail and exotic, the good doctor is quite powerful and uses not just undead animals to do his bidding and distract enemies, but also an array of magical attacks that are both out-of-the-ordinary and quite powerful (the Firebats are devastating against crowds).
