Coming in May

Tropico 3 was one of the more under the radar launches of 2009, allowing the player to take control of a nice island nation and shape its destiny however they wanted, from communism to democracy and from high rise tourism heaven to impoverished militaristic backwater.

And now developer Kalypso Media and developer Haemimont Games are offering more details linked to the Absolute Power expansion, which is set to broaden the reach of the original game when it comes out during May. The expansion will require a full install of the original game to be played and will cost 19.99 dollars.

One of the focuses of the fresh content is offering more tourist-oriented buildings that can bring in tourists and their money. A new huge balloon can offer high flying rides, allowing them to see the entire island, but can also spread the propaganda of El Presidente's regime or an advertisement from a big capitalist company. The island will also get a huge ferris wheel, which will complement the zoo and the museum, and introduce the concept of a theme park to the videogame.

There's also a new marina building that draws in wealthy tourists and their yachts but at the cost of putting out of business those tropical citizens who rely on fishing for their supper and salary. A revolution is never far behind when the people get disgruntled, so the player will need to make sure that they balance the needs of his folk with the cash in their coffers.

The fresh campaign in Absolute Power will have a 10-mission arc with islands to be developed and ruled either through fear or with a benevolent hand. The game is set to get a graphical upgrade and other political options, with a new Loyalist faction interested in keeping the ruler in power through all means and with more laws linked to a cult of personality available to the player.
