Kate Gosselin will reportedly get semi-interactive reality show on TLC, come this spring

A few days ago, reports emerged that Kate Gosselin would continue on television, with a new dating reality show. As it turns out, her next project will be not so much of a dating show as more of an interactive one that will see her face different challenges, a well-placed source tells TheWrap. It will air this spring or summer, also on TLC.

Mrs. Gosselin has repeatedly said that she sees no other way to provide for her eight children than by pursuing a career in television or perhaps in feature films. Since TLC is the network that made her the star she is today with the original “Jon & Kate Plus 8” show that was canceled late last year, the network is interesting in nabbing her for a project before someone else does, it is being said. Thus, the idea of the semi-interactive show is now in the works.

“Reality superstar Kate Gosselin is set to return to television later this year in a brand new TLC series of her own, TheWrap has learned. According to a source close to the untitled production, the series will depict the former matriarch of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ as a fish out of water ‘trying different jobs and tasks and showing how she performs in the different environments.’ The show will also likely have an interactive component, with the professions and corresponding challenges being somewhat determined by the audience. ‘It’s more like Kate Gosselin, firefighter,’ noted the production source, ‘not Kate Gosselin, wife and homemaker’,” TheWrap writes.

The show will not feature ex-husband Jon or the eight children they have together, being based exclusively on Kate. Sources in the industry say TLC bosses are utterly convinced she can carry any role she wants, having already proven she’s a celebrity on her own and taking into account the massive interest she generates in the media no matter what. In this light, doing a show in which viewers get to have a say in the challenges she undertakes seems like a brilliant idea, industry insiders further say.

Be that as it may, even granting the above report is accurate, TLC is not saying a word on its plans for Mrs. Gosselin. “This is just the latest speculation from supposed sources. Last week everyone was announcing ‘Date Kate.’ We are still in development and looking at a number of ideas. When we have determined what the show will be, you will hear directly from us,” a spokesperson for the network states for the same publication.
