“Breaking Dawn,” the fourth film in “The Twilight Saga” has not even been confirmed yet, but fans are already dying to know details no matter how small. Given the recent wave of fan interest in the franchise, explainable by the start of production on “Eclipse,” the third film, InStyle has reached out to several designers, asking them to come up with Bella Swan’s wedding dress based on the description offered by Stephenie Meyer in the fourth book.

As all “Twilight” fans must know by now, in the fourth book, Bella is ready to say her “I Do” to her vampire lover, Edward Cullen. His sister Alice handles all preparations for the big day, including her wedding gown, which she orders to match the diamond engagement ring that has a very oldie vibe to it, having passed from generation to generation until it ended on Bella’s finger as a token of Edward’s love.

“Bella’s dress is described as an early 1900s design (which complements her antique engagement ring) with friend and Maid of Honor Alice Cullen’s modern tweaks to the train and veil. ‘You look like you just stepped out of an Austen movie,’ Bella’s mother says to the bride-to-be when she spies her in the gown in the final book, ‘Breaking Dawn.’ ‘It’s gorgeous! So graceful, so elegant’.” InStyle writes of what it offered to the designers for the job of creating the perfect dress for one of the most beloved female characters (both in writing and on film) of our times.

The ten designers “contracted” for the job came up with brilliant ideas, all of them delivering creations so breathtakingly feminine that they almost seem ethereal, frozen in time. Lace, heavy beading and low-cut backs are among the most common specific elements, while some even go overboard with adornments or, on the contrary, with their simplicity, which almost seems to border on rigidity.

Monique Lhuillier delivers “a mermaid-style dress with lace detailing. The reworked take on a gown from the 1920s features a silk sash and high neck with cap sleeves.” Max Azria “focused on the vintage lace detail for his Victorian inspired gown. The dress is complete with lace peaked shoulders, full sleeves and a high neck.” Badgley Mischka’s “vision is a strong silhouette with vintage details like full-length lace sleeves and bodice, and a high-buttoned neck.” In short, they are all beautiful, worthy of such a popular character as Bella Swan is.
