Now that there are just a few weeks left until Intel's second generation Core architecture, also known as Sandy Bridge, will make its appearance, more notebook models that feature such processors seem to make their appearance, Dell updating its Precision mobile workstation line to make room for Intel's future CPUs.

As a result, both the 15.6-inch Precision M4500 and the 17.3-inch M6500 laptops have received these new processors, Dell naming the two resulting models M4600 and M6600, respectively.

Currently, these two Precision laptops are available with Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, so, most probably, once the two new models debut, users will have the option of choosing between a wide range of Sandy Bridge SKUs.

In addition to the new processor options, Dell will also offer better graphics cards, as the M6600 can now support AMD FirePro M8900, Nvidia Quadro 3000M and Quadro 4000M discrete GPUs, all these coming with 2GB of frame buffer memory.

As for the M4600, it also gets better graphics as the laptop can now be configured with 1GB GDDR5 AMD FirePro M5950, Nvidia Quadro 1000M and Quadro 2000M GPU's, these two solutions featuring 2GB of on-board video memory.

According to Zahipedia, both the M4600 and the M6600 are equipped with while-LED backlit screens, RGB-LED LCDs and a touchscreen being also available as optionals.

In regard to the notebook's remaining specifications, there are no further details available at this time, although I expect Dell to retain the same storage options as before, that allowed for users to configure the mobile workstations with both SSDs and 7200RPM HDDs, the 17-inch notebook also coming with RAID 0 and RAID 1 support.

Sadly, we can't say anything specific about price and release date as Dell hasn't made any such information public at this time, so stay tuned until further notice.
