Canadian wireless carrier Rogers might soon announce the launch of a new Android-based device on its airwaves, the Dell Streak. A series of documents from the carrier has made it into the wild with various details on the said release, all available now for your viewing pleasure.

The first clue comes from the Rogers publication URMagazine, where one can see new write ups, including the Torch 9800 and the Galaxy S Captivate, as well as the said Android-powered smartphone/tablet Dell Streak.

Here's what one can read there (via mobilesyrup):

Part smartphone, part tablet, the Dell Streak offers the best of both worlds. [...]

Think of it as a cross between an iPad and a touchscreen smartphone. Its five-inch display rivals your best monitor for gaming, reading news and browsing the mobile internet; but, unlike the iPad, this device also doubles as a phone, meaning you don’t have to carry a cell as well.

There is no doubt that the tablet PC would be on its way to the wireless carrier, but an official announcement from Rogers is still pending, and there are no details available on when would the carrier plan on making it available for purchase.

However, a recent article on Phandroid claims that the Streak would be released on Roger's airwaves as soon as November is here, bringing to display a leaked document from the carrier, which shows early November as the expected release date for the device.

In case there are some of you unfamiliar with what the slate sports, we should note that it comes with a 5-inch touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution, as well as with a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and dual LED flash.

The specifications list of Streak also includes a front-facing VGA camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options, GPS receiver, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The tablet PC runs under Google's Android 1.6 operating system, but Dell committed to upgrading it to the new Android 2.2 OS before the end of the ongoing year.

The one thing that remains to be seen, beside the exact release date of Dell Streak at Rogers, is what price tag the device would sport in Canada. Dell sells it for $549.99 (USD) in the US, and chances are that it would land in Canada at $299.99 on a 3-year contract.
