Computer maker Dell is set to deliver a new software update for its Dell Streak tablet PC, namely the Android 2.2 Froyo solution. The slate already comes with this OS version on board on the Japanese market, and should receive it as an OTA update in other markets too.

Moreover, it appears that the Stage UI solution, which was spotted for the first time on the previously leaked Dell Thunder (supposedly the Dell Venue), should be brought to the new device too.

The slate can be seen on softbank's website here, where both the Android 2.2 Froyo solution on it and the said UI solution are detailed.

Not to mention that a recent tweet on Michael Dell's account reads the following: “DELL Streak available in Japan with Android 2.2 Froyo 2010冬-2011春モデル http://t.co/OBdkHAH.”

However, while this is not an official announcement regarding the release of Android 2.2 on Dell Streak on other markets around the world too, that info comes from Stephen Jio's twitter account.

“It's official Android 2.2 update is coming to all EU Dell Streaks, including O2 via OTA. More details to follow! #dellstreak,” the said tweet reads.

The Dell Streak came to the market with Google's Android 1.6 operating system on board, but Dell promised an Android 2.1 OS upgrade soon after launch.

The company already started to push the solution to its users, but a wide range of issues were reported with it, and the software was pulled soon after.

This time around, it appears that the company plans on skipping the Android 2.1 OS solution, and that it will go straight for Android 2.2, the latest OS version from Google.
