Computer maker Dell came to the market last year with a small tablet PC powered by Google's Android operating system, the Dell Streak, which boasts a 5-inch touchscreen display, and which has got a larger brother in the meantime, the Dell Streak 7, a highly-appealing, dual-core device.

But, if the 7-inch screen on Dell Streak 7 and the dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 application processor packed inside the device do not seem appealing enough for you, you can always overclock the CPU to get more performance out of it.

The tablet PC's application processor comes with each core clocked in at 1GHz, which provides it with enough performance capabilities, that's for sure.

For example, the device can boast a Quadrant score of 1954 at ease, while toping 35.6MFLOPs Linpack.

However, some felt that the processor can deliver much more, and they were actually right. The Tegra2 chip inside the Streak 7 got overclocked to 1.4Ghz, which added some extra performance into the mix.

The Quadrant score reportedly jumped up to 3056, while the Linpack test results hit 51.4MFLOPs.

Compared to the initial performance capabilities of the device, the new results seem impressive enough, thats for sure.

However, it seems that the real trick would be to set the processor to reach the faster 1.4GHz speeds only when required, while usually running at lower ones.

This would make the device's batter offer juice for a longer period of time, while also ensuring that the tablet PC would have a longer life overall.

As usual, those of you who would like to try out the overclocking method for the Dell Streak 7 would be doing so at their own risk, especially since overclocking the device might void the warranty, while tempering with its processor speeds could harm it.

Provided that there are some who would still like to continue with the process, they should head over here to learn more on the matter.
