Together with its XPS, Precision and Latitude laptops lines, Dell deiced that is also time to refresh the popular Latitude 2110 netbook, this to be available with a dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor starting January 2011, as the system will be officially unveiled during CES.

As some of you already know, the Latitude line of netbooks is aimed at the educational market, all the models being specially equipped in order to fulfill this role.

This means that all the netbooks have a special rubberized case and feature an anti-microbial treatment, the 2011 Latitude 2120 also getting a keyboard that is more resistant to pressure.

As for its hardware configuration, changes were kept to a minimum as Dell has only replaced the Intel Atom N455 CPU that was previously found in this 10.1-inch notebook with an Atom N550 chip.

Compared to the N455, this processor features a dual-core design and is clocked at 1.5 GHz.

The rest of the specs list has remained unchanged, the only worthwhile difference being found in the optionals section which now includes a Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator.

The Broadcom chip is specially designed in order to enable HD video playback on low-speed machines, as those powered by Atom CPUs, allowing the netbook to run Full HD content without any stuttering.

Just as before, the netbook is configured with either 1GB or 2GB of memory, Ethernet, Bluetooth and 802.11a/b/n WiFi connectivity, up to 250GB of storage space, a touchscreen and a camera finding their way onto the optionals list.

In addition, users can choose between three batteries, a 6-cell and 53Whr "smart" battery, a regular 6-cell 54Whr power pack and a 3-cell 28WHr battery, the netbook weighting 1.31 Kg with the 3-cell and 1.48Kg with the 6-cell.

As stated earlier, the Dell Latitude 2120 will be launched during CES 2011. (via liliputing)
