Lately there have been a lot of news showing up on various websites that predicted netbooks sales will be severely affect by tablets, some reports suggesting that tablet shipments will surpass netbooks as soon as Q4 2011 and Fujitsu seems to agree with this as the company has decided to drop out of the netbook business, at least for now.

This statement was made by a company official during a local event that showcased some of Fujitsu's LifeBook notebook models.

According to the company official this decision was motivated by the fact that consumers that have been experiencing a netbook are prepared to move to a more powerful portable computers built around a 12-inch or 13-inch displays, Fujitsu offering such solutions to its customers.

Taking a look at Fujitsu's portfolio is clear the company has a wide series of models available that fits in the 12-inch to 13.9-inch range, including no less than six convertible notebooks as well as other S and P series offerings.

However, none of these solutions are particularly affordable, the least expensive being the TH700 tablet PC that comes with a i3-350M, 4GB of DDR3 memory as well as 12.1-inch touchscreen display, this being listed at $999 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Dropping to the 11-inch space we find the PH520 model that comes somewhere in between a notebook and a netbook thanks to its AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor, this model being available for $599.

The company representative could not offer any other informations regarding Fujitsu's netbook future plans, so it seems like there are still some chances for such products to make their way into the company's lineup.

If we were to take a look at online retailers and their current stock of Fujitsu netbooks one will surely notice the only model still listed is the LifeBook MH380, availability being somewhat limited.
