Capcom has announced that Dead Rising 2's release has been delayed. The game was supposed to arrive on August 31 in North America and September 3 in Europe. The new launch dates are September 28 for North America and August 1 for Europe. Capcom gave no reason for the delay, but more information is bound to surface soon.

Dead Rising 2 is a survival action horror set to be released on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC. It is developed by Blue Castle Games in collaboration with Capcom, with the guidance of members from the team that developed the first title in the series, including the head of R&D from Capcom, Keiji Inafune.

The player fills in the shoes of the main character, Chuck Greene, as he faces multiple hordes of zombies. The title boasts a lot a different ways to dispose of the undead enemy, allowing the creation of new weapons from different parts found around the game world. Some of these can be quite surprising, like the Dynameat, a piece of dynamite strapped with duct tape to a piece of meat or the Freedom Bear, a huge teddy bear with a machine gun, which acts as a turret mowing down zombies.

Dead Rising 2 will also feature a multiplayer component comprised of cooperative and competitive modes, according to Capcom. The story campaign can be enjoyed by two players at the same time online. Both of them will take on the role of Chuck Greene and earn experience as they progress through the narrative. The competitive multiplayer will consist of a mock reality TV show that will pit four players against a massive number of zombies. The winner of the match is the one who kills the biggest number of zombies.
