“Scream 4,” the upcoming sequel to the famous horror movie that broke the mold more than a decade ago, has been long in the making. However, it’s like nothing has changed, David Arquette says in a new interview with MovieFone.

As fans of the genre must surely know, much has been said and speculated about the fourth installment of the franchise – and only at the beginning of last year did things finally start to head in the right direction for it to happen.

Shooting for “Scream 4” has come to an end and, with a release date set for April 2011, Halloween is just as good a moment to star promoting it as ever.

Speaking with the aforementioned movie-oriented e-zine, David Arquette says working on “4” didn’t feel forced or out of the ordinary. In fact, he says, it was just like family coming together again.

“This set, being surrounded by a group of people you’ve worked with for 16 years, although you haven’t worked with them, it was really great. It was like a family,” the actor says.

“To get to know Neve [Campbell] again, and to get to work opposite Courtney, which I don’t get to do that often, I really enjoyed that a lot. So it’s just really fun to do,” David explains.

The movie was not only fun to make, it will also be fun to watch, the actor promises. That’s mostly because it marks a return to the traditional horror movie, the kind in which humor also played an important part.

“It felt like there had been these series of pretty graphic horror films. So to go back to something that’s a little more traditional, with a sense of humor, I think that people are going to be ready for it and be really excited,” Arquette says.

Because of this too, the fourth “Scream” film will also be the best in the series, the actor states, perhaps even better than the first.

“I think it’s going to be the best sequel of the series. Because it sort of goes back to the original place, Woodsboro, and it explores what happens there, why it happened, and some of the people involved. So it was a lot of fun,” David says.

“Scream 4” arrives in US theaters on 15 April 2011. For the full interview with David Arquette, please refer here.
