PS 3 doesn't stand a chance in front of Nintendo's Wii.

Gabe Newell's impressions are radical concerning the new PS3 console which seems to have taken a wrong turn in its journey towards the game consuming public.

It seems that PS3 is a "total disaster". These are the exact words of Gabe Newell, the boss at Valve that foresees the fate of PS3 as a dark one, the console having to compete with Nintendo's Wii which exceeds it on many levels. The reason seems to be losing track of what the customer's demands are when it comes to home entertainment systems.

If we take a deeper look into the console's history, we can find that Newell might be right as the PlayStation's features were always only improved, less adding having been made. As for the Wii, Nintendo brought a new way of actually playing the game that is without doubt revolutionary and fun, the "wiimote."

Newell adds:" I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I'm crazy. I really like everything that Nintendo is doing." Other more radical statements were made like: "they should just cancel it and do a 'do over'".

Newell's statements are to be taken seriously if we keep in mind that he is co-founder of Valve and developer of the multi-awarding series Half Life and Counter Strike, which couldn't have been possible without a good foresight.

Scrapping plans to release the PS3 and developing an entirely new system, as the boss at Valve implies, seems a radical solution but it's probably not the only thing he has in mind.
