As the release date is closing in fast, Electronic Arts and Visceral Games are beginning to pour more and more attention into Dante's Inferno. Just Friday, we saw that the game got its Divine Edition, with the PlayStation 3 getting a lot more out of the deal than its fellow Xbox 360. Now, the title has received another special edition, and, if the Sony one was divine, the European special release is the exact opposite side of the coin. The Death Edition of the game has several similarities with its holy cousin, with a Wayne Barlowe art book and an actual version of the original poem being the most important ones. But there is something in the bundle that doesn't feel quite in line with the game's theme.

European gamers will have a chance to stroll through the Nine Circles of Hell present in Dante's Inferno as someone else, and not actually Dante. As weird as it may sound, the exact exclusive costume that is made available is even stranger, as players will be able to swing Death's Scythe as none other than Isaac Clarke, the leading man in Visceral's well-known survival horror, Dead Space.

To say that this is a cryptic decision would be underselling the situation, if you consider how much the developers have bragged about immersion being a very important factor in the title. It looks like, even if they have a story to tell, the cutbacks made by EA have had everyone a bit jumpy, and the developers have decided that their next big project under development, Dead Space 2, needs a little bit more publicity to ensure enough sales as well as the studio's survival.

The exact content of Death Edition, as revealed by Console Planet, is listed bellow.

Exclusive costume for a playable character in-game: Isaac Clarke from Dead Space! Making-of documentary with the game (Italian subtitles). Documentary "Dante in History" (subtitled in English). Soundtrack full game. Documentary on the creation of music and audio (Italian subtitles). Digital Artbook edited by visual designer Wayne Barlowe (subtitled in English). Over 10 minutes of scenes from the soul "Dante's Inferno An Animated Epic" (subtitled in English). Digital reprint of the poem Complete (in English).
