Dante's Inferno is just two months away from being released and Electronic Arts is really revving up the sin counter. We already saw some pretty publicity stunts, like the Mass: We Pray game, and now the publisher is planting some jealousy and dissent amongst gamers. According to Yahoo Finance, a special edition of the game will be released, but it won't come on all platforms. PlayStation 3 players will get an exclusive Divine Edition of the title that will be packed with all sorts of nifty extras.

The preferential treatment doesn't stop here, as the Xbox 360 has to wait two more weeks, compared with the PS3, before it can enjoy the game's demo, a demo that was launched today. On the other hand, the Xbox 360 can pride itself on taking players to Hell on Christmas Eve, so that's something to mend its broken ego.

The Divine Edition will contain additional developer commentaries, an art book with the creations of Wayne Barlowe, the designer of many of the creatures in the game, as well as the soundtrack of Dante's Inferno and a digital copy of the original Divine Comedy. The greatest thing about this special PS3 release of the game is that, in spite of all the added bonuses, the bundle will be sold for the standard price that the regular release goes for, namely $59.99.

As far as other releases tied in with the game go, EA has announced that it will have an animated movie to hold its hand while it's walking that dark path through the nine circles of Hell. Cleverly entitled Dante's Inferno: The Animated Movie, the film will follow Dante in his search of Beatrice, and seems to be set as a series of small stories.

The producer of the animated flick is the same one that did Dead Space: Downfall, an animated film that told the events that led to the ones depicted in the title, Joe Goyette. Victor Cook will be directing the film and Brandon Auman will be writing. The finished product will be released on February 8, in very close proximity to the game's launch.
