A new DROID is on its way to Verizon Wireless in the United States, namely the DROID Pro by Motorola, which should be put on sale on November 18th with a price tag of $179.99 attached to it, upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Today, the mobile phone carrier announced officially that it plans on making the handset available for pre-order on its website and at select Verizon Wireless Communications Stores starting with tomorrow, November 9th.

The DROID Pro by Motorola was brough to light several weeks ago, when the mobile phone maker did say that it would land at Verizon, but did not unveil specific info on the handset's landing and price tag.

The new device comes to Big Red's shelves with support for global connectivity, so that one can use it even when traveling abroad.

DROID PRO, a global-ready Android smartphone, allows customers to enjoy wireless voice service in more than 220 countries and data coverage in more than 200 countries, with more than 120 with 3G speeds,” the wireless carrier notes.

At the same time, the handset comes with a business specific form factor, packing both a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard in a candybar form factur.

Not to mention that it runs under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, offering support for Flash Player 10.1 and for various services from Google.

“Powered by Android 2.2, DROID PRO is packed with features that meet both business and personal needs such as pre-loaded Quickoffice Mobile Suite, 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities, and a QWERTY keyboard designed for speed and convenience,” the mobile phone carrier announced.

Verizon customers interested in the purchase of the new device would have to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and a 3G Smartphone Plan. The aforementioned mail-in rebate will be delivered in the form of a debit card.
