HTC's DROID Incredible smartphone is one step closer to getting the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade, as the guys over at XDA Developers released their 4th version of the unofficial ROM.

Even though lots of bugs have been fixed and the responsiveness and performance of the OS have been improved between builds, there are still some issues left to be addressed in the next release.

Tagged OMGB, this is the first version of the Gingerbread OS ever released for the HTC Incredible. Version 4 of the unofficial ROM enables the 8-megapixel camera, which wasn't working in any of the previous versions.

The Facebook sync process has been fixed, MIUI Music application and Lock/Unlock screen sounds have been added. One of the reasons behind improvements of the latest OMGB build is the fact that it is now using Invisiblek #21 as default Kernel.

However, several users who flashed the newly released OMGB v.4 ROM have reported problems with this Kernel, so the developers suggest going back to Invisiblek #18 Kernel, in case of troubles.

GPS and Camcorder features are not working in this build, but these will most likely be repaired in a future release of the unofficial ROM.

Another recently discovered issue is that certain apps will not show in the market or cannot be restored. The main reason is the fact that this build does not have location features implemented yet, thus all location apps won't work for the moment.

As a side note, the developers state that this ROM does not come with a SetupWizard, which means that users will have to manually add their Google accounts under Settings / Add Accounts. Another option is to open up the market and sign in.

Also, it looks like the SD card does not get mounted on PCs as usual, so users will need to run a gscript that has already been included in the build.

Download and installation instructions can be found in the ROM's dedicated thread.
