14 DAY TRIAL // It has been a long wait for the owners of DROID Incredible devices on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, but things are finally starting to align right, as the carrier is expected to start pushing the Android 2.2 Froyo software update for them starting today.
A great load of enhancements and improvements should arrive with the new ROM, all of which were seen in a leaked full build of the Froyo ROM for DROID Incredible, which leaked into the wild on Thursday.
We won't talk much about the leaked ROM, which can be seen in the video embedded at the bottom of this article (via BGR), but we'll note that it has radio 2.15.00 07.28, the same as the official solution expected to be released into the wild starting today.
According to Verizon's support page, the upcoming firmware update is indeed the Android 2.2 software update for DROID Incredible by HTC - Build: 3.21.605.1/Baseband: 2.15.00.07.28.
Among the enhancements that should be brought in by the solution, we can count pre-installed Adobe Flash Player 10.1, 720p video recording, 801.11n Wi-Fi capabilities, better browser performance, or switching between the eight most recent applications.
The software update packs a nice range of other improvements too, such as: - Play Visual Voicemail messages through speakers when connected to Bluetooth car kit. - Updated software changes provide improved security. - Keep track of music with organized Music Player application. - Improved battery life. - Updated People application to accommodate contacts with Facebook accounts. - Manage Contacts more efficiently with updated contact details. - Instantly know the strength of your signal with improved signal display. - Access Corporate Directory information on Microsoft Exchange. - Save new contacts with “Save to People” option for Visual Voicemail - Connect to Visual Voicemail when Wi-Fi is enabled. - Call a number back immediately from text messages. - Easily move between Today view and Agenda view in the Calendar application - Improved CityID application. - Additional support for Backup Assistant PIN retrieval for new accounts.
The Android 2.2 Froyo for DROID Incredible enables 270 degrees screen rotation and packs new features like Mail Stream widget, Text Message Widget, and automatic app updates.
