Should last until Christmas Eve

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is set to offer its subscribers some appealing gifts during this holiday season, it seems. The company has reportedly restarted the BOGO (Buy One Get One for Free) promotion for the Android-based HTC DROID Eris, the second handset it brought to the US market with Google's operating system on board.

[ADMARk=1]Those of you who would like to grab a free HTC DROID Eris from the wireless carrier can now do so, upon the purchase of another DROID Eris, or of a Motorola DROID handset. However, it seems that a $100 mail-in rebate is also included in the BOGO deal for the DROID Eris, not to mention the two-year contract agreement most of you might be already familiar with.

However, having one HTC DROID Eris for free upon the purchase of another one doesn't sound too bad. Especially since that would mean you will pay $99.99 and get two handsets, not one. Even so, the first Eris will also need a $100 mail-in-rebate and the signing of a two-year contract agreement. In case you will fancy more the highly appealing Motorola DROID, and who doesn't, you'll have to pay $199.99 for it with a contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate, while also being able to choose a DROID Eris for free.

Verizon Wireless, in case you might not recall, had the DROID Eris included in the BOGO promotion a few weeks ago, and the purchase of one unit, or of a Motorola DROID, would offer you the chance to choose from among three or four other handsets from the carrier, Eris included. It might not be the Motorola DROID, with its Android 2.0 OS, but DROID Eris is still one handset to look for on the shelves, that's for sure. In case you're into purchasing a new Android device from Big Red and you also want to benefit from the BOGO deal, you can find the HTC DROID Eris on Verizon's website here.
