Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless might be set to bring to its shelves more than just one device before the end of this month, with DROID Charge, the Samsung 4G LTE smartphone, expected to land the same day as the already talked about DROID Incredible 2. We already knew that Verizon was on its way to bring to the market Samsung's DROID Charge in a matter of weeks, but official info on its release date did not emerge until now.

However, some of the previous rumors on this device suggested that Verizon might be set to bring the new device on its airwaves as soon as today, or before the end of April.

Apparently, the wireless carrier already started to deliver DROID Charge promo materials to its stores (via Android Central), which suggests that the launch date should indeed be very close.

Moreover, Samsung released the source code for the new mobile phone, another sign that its launch day is nearing fast.

While the source code won't unveil any new features and capabilities of DROID Charge, which has been around here for the past few months, it would certainly appeal to those who would like to build custom ROMs for it.

Those who would like to download the said code would need to head to the Samsung Open Source Release Center website here, and search for 'SCH-I510'.

The DROID Charge is expected to become one of the most appealing Android-based smartphones at Verizon, courtesy of its fast 1Ghz application processor, and of 4G LTE radios it was packed with.

Of course, this is not the only LTE-capable Android device that Verizon is making available for purchase on its airwaves, but it appears to be the second one, following the release of HTC ThunderBold.

The wireless carrier also announced the upcoming availability of such smartphones from LG and Motorola. Hopefully, it would unveil more info on the availability of these devices, or at least of DROID Charge, today.
