Video game publisher Activision and developer FreeStyleGames have announced that DJ Hero 2 music based game will be receiving three new mixes starting today, available from the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store, allowing would be mixers to get a taste of the best trance tracks ever released.

The Trance Anthems Mix Pack is set to include the following tracks:

“Imagine” from Armin van Buuren mixed with “Punk” by Ferry Corsten “Not Over” by Paul Oakenfold featuring Ryan Tedder as remixed by FSG “9PM (Till I Come)” by ATB mixed with “For An Angel” by Paul van Dyk

The Trance Anthems Mix Pack can be bought for 640 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 and for 8 dollars on the PlayStation 3.

Those who are enjoying their DJ action on the Wii home console can only get individual tracks for the one time price of 300 Wii Points.

Activision is interested in delivering more music content for both DJ Hero 2 and for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, hoping that the two titles will be generating more revenue in the long term, despite the fact that their initial success was nowhere near that of the previous generation of music simulation experiences.

DJ Hero 2 can be enjoyed using the same turntable peripheral that was used for the first game in the series and Activision says that the title has managed to find a niche with its gameplay based around samples, scratching, mix matching and crossfading.

DJ Hero 2 does not have a clear rival at the moment, but Rock Band 3 from Harmonix has also failed to perform as strong as initially thought, prompting parent company Viacom to sell the developer to an investment fund for the reported small price of 49.99 dollars, with some charge and payments added on top.
