Video-game publisher Activision has announced that those who have picked up DJ Hero 2, the music simulation title that was released last year, can now get a new downloadable content pack for it, built around songs offered by Pendulum, an Australian outfit which creates electronic music and is now on a tour supporting the rockers at Linkin Park.

The Pendulum Mix Pack includes:

- “Watercolour” - “Set Me On Fire” - “Salt In The Wounds”

The new DLC is available from the Xbox Live Marketplace for the price of 640 Microsoft Points and from the PlayStation 3 Store for the price of 7.99 dollars.

On the Nintendo Wii, players will only be able to get individual tracks from the Pendulum Mix Pack, each coming with a price tag of 300 Wii Points.

DJ Hero 2 is quite unique in the music game world because it does not focus on players just playing pre-set songs, aiming for a high score, but encourages would be DJs to innovate and develop their own style, with 83 tracks that have been mixed specifically for the game showing how it all works and providing a base for their own creations.

The game can be played with the turntable peripheral, which arrived with the first game in the series, and also introduces DJ battles for the first time.

The launch of new DLC for DJ Hero 2 is a bit surprising considering that publisher Activision has recently announced that it was closing down development on the Guitar Hero franchise, from which DJ Hero broke off.

The company also said that after February no new DLC for the series would be released.

The music simulation genre has seen a serious slowdown over the good old days of 2008 and 2009 and the hit also affected Harmonix, the creators of the Guitar Hero rival Rock Band.
