While MK characters keep fatalities

What do you get when you cross a multi million dollar comics franchise with one of the best fighting games of the 90's? The correct answer, these days, is Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, the game which works on the assumption that the magic powered heroes of the Mortal Kombat universe devise a way to reach the DC alternate universe and then invade it, intending to conquer it.

The premise of the game might sound absurd, when you take into account the manifest invulnerability of DC's Superman and the lack of any kryptonite in the Mortal Kombat universe. But developer Ed Boon has recently stated that the magical surge that allows travel between the two universes is also responsible for weakening the main DC characters.

And now, the same Ed Boon has decided to display another one of the fears that fans of the Mortal Kombat series have regarding the new game. Some have thought that the inclusion of the DC heroes, who are basically good guys with an interest in arresting and of killing thugs, the era of awesome fatalities is over. Apparently, the situation is not like that. Boon says that "All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don't kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don't actually kill the opponent". It might sound a little iffy, but it will allow us to get the hearts out of our enemies as Mortal Kombat characters.

At the upcoming E3, Boon says that the developers will "be showing four characters and two arenas" from the game and maybe some of the brutalities for the DC characters.

The demonstration should be spectacular, considering that production is fairly advanced by now as the game is being scheduled for an autumn release on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
