Bad news and good news at the same time, but at least you know where you stand

Just in case you're a FPS fan but not a Halo 3 fan, you might want to listen to this. The single player demo version of Crysis, Krytek's latest and most ambitious project yet, has been pushed to October 26th, (a full month and one day), as the company felt there was more tweaking up to be done, not wanting to disappoint fans. However, there's some good news too...

Leaving aside the fact that a delayed game always (or almost always) provides an even better experience as the development team will have had time to polish it up, Crytek's CEO, Cevat Yerli has confirmed through a forum post that gamers will be treated to a surprise. Why don't we just let Yerli do the talking here:

"Hi everyone,

We have some news to announce.

First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007. We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master. We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to getting Crysis into your hands on November 16th.

Thanks

Cevat Yerli CEO & Crytek"

So, are you upset or glad? Probably a little bit of both, but hey, development on a kick-ass game such as Crysis can't always go as smoothly as planned. More than that, guys over at Crytek also had this little surprise in mind and God knows what else they have planned for you, so don't be too angry at the developers. At least you know where you stand with Crysis. Fans of other franchises don't even know whether their favorite game was delayed or not.
