Crysis 3 might be ready to push the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC to their limits when it comes to graphics, but the development team is not yet ready to test the power of the upcoming Wii U from Nintendo.

Rasmus Højengaard, who is the creative development director working at Crytek, told Destructoid that, “I don’t think it’s possible. Right now the launch platforms are PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I don’t think it’s on the cards to do a Wii U version.”

He added, “I would say that our game is less reliant on technical capabilities this time around because of the setting. You could remove a lot of the fancy render tech and still it’d look great… we want to ensure that the experience of playing the game is not going to differ from platform to platform, only the fidelity of the visuals.”

Crysis 3 has been revealed by publisher Electronic Arts and Crytek has quickly confirmed the existence of the game and a number of details about it.

The narrative is set in 2047 and will see Prophet returning to New York, which has since become a sort of tropical paradise where concrete has become a rare sight.

The Crytek development team promises that both the Nanosuit and the gun play will be enhanced for this third video game in the series and that players will get more of an open world feel than in the second installment.

The images that Electronic Arts has revealed also show the protagonist with a bow, which might mean that stealth elements might be more present than they have traditionally been in the series.

The Crysis series has become well known for the quality of its graphics and for the Nanosuit, which allows players to approach each gameplay challenge in very different ways.
