Crytek, the developer of the upcoming Crysis 3 shooter, has talked about the new elements introduced by the game, chief among them being the new bow, who'll join the array of weapons already present in the shooter franchise.

Crysis 3 is set to appear in 2013 and, from the screenshots and videos we’ve seen up until now, it’s looking to be quite an experience with new elements.

Crytek has already talked about the game as a whole, which tries to combine elements from the first and second titles, but now the studio has highlighted the array of new things that are part of the first-person shooter.

Chief among these new things is the introduction of the bow as a weapon, which is featured right on the cover of the game.

“Since we're pushing the 'hunted becoming the hunter' theme and we have the urban rainforest setting, the bow is just kind of a natural addition to that, and we also needed a way to expand a little bit on our stealth gameplay because you can't be a hunter if you can't efficiently and stealthily hunt stuff, so you can use the weapon while cloaked in some instances,” Crytek’s Rasmus Hojengaard told CVG.

Given the fact that enemies will wield different weapons, the bow was strengthened in order to give players a chance in front of their opponents.

“At the same time we don't want to limit the weapon because it has a lot of potential, so we've added a number of ammunition types you can put on your arrows. We're only talking about two of them at the moment, a frag grenade-type explosive and a stealthy arrow you can fire while cloaked.”

Plenty of other things are also included in the upcoming shooter, many of which are set to be revealed before Crysis 3’s 2013 release, so expect to hear more from Crytek.
