The Paradise is getting crowded

The guys at Criterion surely never take days off. Otherwise, they could not be able to get as much downloadable content out for their flagship title, Burnout Paradise. They are now announcing that, with a pack dubbed the Toy Cars Pack, they aim to get small race cars, monster trucks and comedy cruisers into the game. The pack will arrive sometime in 2009 and will probably be payable.

Criterion has not revealed how many cars would be available in the new DLC pack and the company is still thinking about how much to charge. It seems that after the release of the Legendary Cars Pack, which will feature a car modeled after the De Lorean from Back to the Future, the developers will settle on a pack. The Legendary cars will also include the Cavalry Bootlegger, the Manhattan Spirit and the GT Nighthawk and there are speculations that all the vehicles will be based on some well known to movie lovers (the last one is obviously the Batmobile in disguise).

At the moment, you can get Burnout Paradise from the PlayStation Network and if the download takes too long, you can wait until early 2008 in order to get a special retail packaged addition which features all the updates released until now integrated into the experience. Criterion is really trying its best to make sure all those interested in its arcade car racer can get their hands on it.

The coming weeks and months will be pretty difficult for Burnout Paradise as other racing games will be launched. The biggest, by far, is Need for Speed Undercover, which promises to bring the long running franchise back to its cops chasing racers. We'll have more details on Undercover as the game gets closer to its launch date.
