While keeping its Mac-customers waiting for the Universal version of the Creative Suite, Adobe started shipping an updated and enhanced version of its professional suite - CS 2. Creative Suite 2.3 was announced in the first-half of September and the news was received with disappointment by the Mac users, because it is not Universal Binary.

Well, now it is already shipping and many think it will not be such a hit as many still wait for CS3 that is due in April 2007. Benefiting from the acquisition of Macromedia, CS 2.3 now includes Dreamweaver 8, the industry-leading web development tool and for those that haven't already purchased it, Acrobat Professional 8 that began shipping few weeks ago.

Adobe Acrobat 8 is the only universal component of the whole suite and offers a refined interface to allows user to easily access various features, including combining, signing and protecting PDF files, interacting with PDF forms, reviewing and collaborating on documents as well as integration of Acrobat Connect software (formerly Macromedia Breeze), a hosted software service for realtime Web conferencing and collaboration, says MacNN.

Creative Suite is available for a 30-day evaluation for those interested in buying it in a Premium and a Standard version. The Premium version includes Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, Adobe GoLive CS2, Adobe Acrobat 8, Adobe Version Cue CS2, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Stock Photos and Dreamweaver 8 and costs $1.199 or $549 if upgrading from a previous version. The Standard version costs $899 for purchasing or $349 if upgrading and does not include Adobe Golive CS2, Adobe Acrobat 8 and Dreamweaver 8.
