505 Games managed to hit the jackpot with the release of Cooking Mama, since the casual masterpiece soon climbed the rankings and became one of the best selling games of its kind. As it usually happens in such circumstances, lots of spin-offs and sequels are expected to be released and we're pretty sure this second installment recently announced by the developers will not be the last. However, this sequel is definitely the first to be launched on Nintendo's Wii console - something fans will surely appreciate.

The game is under development at Cooking Mama Limited studios and it will feature brand new recipes and full 3D graphics - a first for the franchise. Of course, if you take a look at the screenshot in the upper left corner, you will notice that "full 3D" graphics are actually something different from what you might be expecting. Anyway, I doubt that whoever plays Cooking Mama 2 cares too much about visuals...

"Cooking Mama has been a phenomenal success in Europe and we're delighted to be publishing Cooking Mama 2: World Kitchen," said Ian Howe, Managing Director, 505 Games. "The franchise has proved a tremendous hit with the ever-growing Wii market and we fully expect Cooking Mama 2: World Kitchen to build on previous successes."

The game, which will be released in Europe in 2009, will be played using the Wiimote - you will have to cook a variety of real life recipes by simulating the actions of a real-life chef. This means that you should be ready for chopping, grating, slicing and frying. Also, lots of Cooking Mama-styled mini-games will be available for you in order to correct any mistake you might make. So, in the end, 505 Games promises you'll have a lot of fun, even if your cooking skills are low.
