Chris Nolan confirms he’ll return in the director’s chair for third “Batman” film

Fans probably saw this coming weeks, if not months, ago but they couldn’t have known it for sure until just now: Chris Nolan is officially on board the third “Batman” film as director.

Over the weekend, Chris Nolan confirmed for the media that he and brother Jonah Nolan were working on a script for the film, with the first draft already having been finished.

Now, Empire Movies Online has confirmation from Chris himself that he’ll also be coming back in the director’s chair for the third installment of the highly popular franchise.

“You may have guessed, you may have assumed it, but until now we hadn't had confirmation from the studio or the man himself that Christopher Nolan would be back to direct Batman 3 / The Dark Knight 2 (or whatever we're calling it),” Empire says.

So they asked Nolan himself about it and, to fans’ utter excitement, the director answered in the positive.

“It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way. I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing so…” the director explains.

“If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it. I think you can [assume I’m directing it] at this point, yes,” Chris adds.

As we also informed you over the weekend, it was Chris too who confirmed Jonathan had finished work on a first draft and handed the manuscript over to him for a second version.

As of now, who the villain in the third film may be remains subject to speculation: what is certain though is that The Joker, the part perfected by the late Heath Ledger, will not be recast, as Nolan said a while back.

A popular theory with fans and movie-oriented e-zines is that The Riddler will be one of the villains in the upcoming film, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and even rapper Eminem rumored to be in the race to land the part.
