First details on “Batman 3” are out: script is being finalized now, Chris Nolan reveals

After many months of speculation, things finally seem to be progressing in the right direction for the third installment on the rebooted “Batman” franchise, with director Chris Nolan now working on the final script.

Nolan was in Italy just recently to promote his latest blockbuster, the dream-within-a-dream thriller “Inception” when, inevitably, the question regarding “Batman 3” was asked.

Though he’s not in the habit of talking about ongoing projects, especially if nothing has yet been made official about them, Nolan would say this much: he’s now working on the script.

“I don’t like to talk too much about things until I’m further along with them. But I’m working on the script right now,” the famed director said during the press conference in Rome.

A first draft of the script was done by Jonah Nolan, and now Chris has taken over writing duties on it.

“My brother Jonah has done a draft for the script and now I’m writing on it. We have set a release date and as far as the film being officially greenlit, they haven’t told they don’t want to do it. So I’m hopeful,” Nolan explained.

It was also Chris Nolan who said, back in March, while promoting “Inception,” that this third “Batman” installment would actually be the last, which meant lots of attention to details had to go in it.

Also then, Nolan also revealed that neither he nor his brother had any intention of bringing back The Joker, which could only mean the villain would be The Riddler, it is being said.

“We have a great ensemble, that’s one of the attractions of doing another film, since we’ve been having a great time for years,” Nolan said back then of doing another Batman with Christian Bale.

“Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story,” the director also shared.

One possible actor who could (and, most importantly, who should, as his fans say) play The Riddler is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also starred in Nolan’s “Inception.”

Even rapper Eminem is reportedly eyeing the same part, with many actually saying he’d have the humor and darkness required to carry it, as we also informed you a short while ago.
