With Gears of War 2 enjoying very good sales and becoming one of the most played multiplayer games on Xbox Live, Microsoft has moved quickly to capitalize on the situation and announced the launch of a new map pack for the shooter, called the Combustible Map Pack. The exclusive premiere of the content was hosted by the Spike TV powered Video Game Awards and now the Combustible Map Pack is available for all those who have Gears of War 2 and can’t get enough multiplayer action.

There are three new maps in the pack. Flood is very, very tight, where Imulsion will begin to creep up to the center from the sides. With the map becoming ever smaller, teams will have to flank and go for close quarter kills to win a match on Flood. Gold Rush is very different from the first map in the pack as it includes multiple levels set in an old abandoned Imulsion refinery.

There are excellent spots for snipers to take out opponents and a Mortar shot can also take out multiple enemies if aimed correctly. The last map is called Fuel Station; there, the control of the buildings and especially of the rooftops is crucial. There are heavy weapons that can be found and any team caught downstairs or in the open will suffer as fire rains on them.

The developers of Gears of War 2, Epic Games, have created something amazing in the Horde mode, which pits teams of players against wave after wave of enemies. All three new maps featured in the Combustible DLC are Horde enabled.

Gears of War 2 was the best selling videogame of November in North America, and has reached more than 3 million units in overall sales. So, go get the Combustible Map Pack and see what the fuss is all about.
