“There’s something about the process of aging that makes you give a crap less”

Clint Eastwood spoke in support of Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention earlier this month but his speech became the subject of countless jokes after he chose to yell at an empty chair. If you found that hilarious, Eastwood doesn’t care.

In a new interview with Good Morning America, the Hollywood icon addressed the empty chair yelling routine, as the video below will confirm.

He explained that there was nothing scripted about it and that he deliberate set out to make his speech of the “oddball” variety.

“So then I’m just sitting there and the guy says, ‘You wanna sit down?’ and I said ‘No, but put that [chair] next to the podium will ya',” Clint says of how the chair came to share the stage with him.

And, as they say, the rest is history.

As for how Eastwood has taken all the criticism and cruel online jokes, he says it best: “There is something about the aging process that makes you give a crap less.” So there.
