Clint Eastwood was one of the key speakers at the Republican National Convention last week but, as millions of Americans say, his wasn’t a memorable speech for how good it was. Even so, Barack Obama insists he wasn’t offended by it.

As we also noted at the time, Eastwood accepted to attend the Convention and even speak in support of Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

His was a 12-minute unscripted speech that included jokes that few understood and a “dialogue” with an empty chair that seated an invisible Barack Obama.

Eastwood even reproached to “Obama” things that had happened before he became President, during the Bush administration.

Even so, Obama says he’s not offended by what was said on stage at the Convention, explaining for USA Today that, if he had less thick skin, he’d consider getting out of politics.

“One thing about being president or running for president — if you're easily offended, you should probably choose another profession,” the President says “with a smile.”

That’s all he’d say about Eastwood’s speech, opting to be diplomatic about it and not dissect it with the press.

He does note, however, that he remains a fan of the Hollywood star, both as an actor and as a director.

“He is a great actor, and an even better director. I think the last few movies that he's made have been terrific,” Obama praises Eastwood.

Perhaps not the same can be said about Eastwood as a public speaker but, if the President believes that, he’s not saying it.

Not the same goes for Jon Stewart, who let it rip on his post-RNC show, as we also noted over the weekend.

Not only did Stewart highlight how Eastwood’s speech revealed the hypocrisy at the core of the Republican Party (his words, not ours), but he also noted that it reminded us why some celebrities should never be allowed to be in politics, only on the grounds that they’re celebrities.

Here is video of his latest show. At the end of this article, you will find a video of Eastwood’s much mediated speech.
