The new CLEAR Spot 4G Apollo personal hotspot announced by Clearwire promises to offer increased speeds, unlimited 4G usage plans, as well compatibility with a wide range of mobile devices

The device will be available for purchase from select retail stores and dealers, as well as online, at the end of this month for $99 upfront or $6 per month to rent.

It is also worth mentioning that the CLEAR Spot 4G Apollo personal hotspot can be paired with Clearwire's 4G plans that start at $35 per month.

According to Clearwire, the device brings 4G connectivity possibilities to a wide range of Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, portable gaming devices, netbooks, smartphones, and other connected devices.

In addition, the CLEAR Spot 4G can simultaneously connect up to eight Wi-Fi devices at 4G speeds.

This device is the ultimate Internet surfing machine and offers today's mobile user, and the millions of Wi-Fi products in use across the country, even greater access to CLEAR's super-fast and affordable 4G Internet service,” said Dow Draper, senior vice president of marketing and products for Clearwire.

Furthermore, customers who decide to purchase the device will be able to take advantage of average mobile download speeds of 3 to 6 mbps with bursts up to 10 mbps, using Clearwire's 4G network.

In this regard, Clearwire offers unlimited 4G usage plans that do not require long-term service contracts and does not cap data usage.

Manufactured by Gemtek, the CLEAR Spot 4G Apollo is 3.4-inch square, weighs less than 140g, and runs on a rechargeable battery that provides up to 6 hours of continuous use.

The only downside of the device is the lack of 3G support, which means that users who are outside of Clearwire's 4G WiMAX network coverage won't be able to use the CLEAR Spot 4G Apollo personal hotspot.
