Sony, of course didn't comment on the rumor

There was no question about Sony eventually cutting the price on their PS3, but so soon...? The advertisement you see on the left may just be the first confirmation of a price cut for the PS3. Analysts were betting on a Christmas price cut for the machine, autumn the earliest. But, the DVD Talk forums discovered this early copy of a Circuit City flyer promoting a $100 cheaper PS3 console (some sites say starting July 12, others say July 17), bringing it down to an affordable $499.

Yes, affordable. Look, if you don't know what the consoles of this generation are capable of, trust us, this is a fair price. Later on however, Kotaku actually discovered the ad and scanned it online, while 1UP approached Sony Computer Entertainment America asking about the price drop. SCEA, as you'd imagine, told the site that "Circuit City hasn't announced any price drop on PS3, so we have no comment," but after a little prodding - as the site claims - that turned into: "That CC flyer is just a rumor, so we don't have anything else to comment on regarding it."

What's really interesting and probably the most important confirming factor of all is that GameDaily cites an anonymous "merchandising manager at one of the world's biggest retailers" that the price drop not only isn't a Circuit City exclusive, but will become official very soon. I guess that just about spoils one of Sony's surprising announcements at E3 this year.

So, I guess analysts' forecasts might just be wrong - as an example that you shouldn't take any analyst's predictions as a fact. Now, don't get too excited though, Sony may also change their strategy just because of this leak. But yes, I'm sure you've never been happier. Think of those who have managed to raise 500 bucks and hoped to God they'd be able to raise another hundred...
