As in December 24...? Luckily, it's autumn the latest

So, price cut for the PlayStation 3... Haven't we heard this a million times before? This time it's real. As in confirmed by a company official. Still not buying it? I can't blame you really, with all these rumors and still no move on Sony's behalf, who can trust a headline saying PS3 Price Drop anymore?

Well, whether you believe it or not, it's probably not happening until winter, so yeah, I guess you could say that things haven't changed much, but hey, at least it's official. Yeah, I know you're upset. I'm upset too.

The news came this weekend apparently (how on Earth haven't we heard about this by now), when Sony chairman and chief executive, Howard Stringer, admitted that there is "no question" that consumers want a new, pocket-friendly price for the powerful, Cell Processor enabled PS3, as Gizmodo.UK reports. The site also reveals that he praised the Wii and Nintendo's business model, but firmly denied what everyone says about the Wii: that it's more fun to play than the PS3.

The site reports among other issues that the respective price drop for the PS3 is indeed coming and it will be before Christmas. Before Christmas? Great! As in... on the 24th of December? You know that could be the case. Stringer's actual words as quoted saying in the FT, earlier implied what we're hearing now: "[A price cut] is what we are studying at the moment. That's what we are trying to refine."

Luckily, that "before Christmas" should be somewhere between the beginning and the end of the autumn season, when trees shed their leaves making Sony melancholic. No really, do you reckon they're maybe just a little bit sentimental about what they're doing over there. You know, make a great console, then share with the world to improve this godforsaken society of ours...? Nheaaa...!
